2020 – NAMIWalks Your Way Sponsors
1 in 5 Americans is affected by mental illness. 50 percent of mental health conditions begin by age 14, and 75 percent of mental health conditions develop by age 24. Yet, fewer than 1/3 of adults and 1/2 of children with a mental health condition receive services and treatment in a given year. Early engagement and support are crucial to improving outcomes and increasing the promise of recovery.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Miles for Mental Health & Wellness Walk & Symposium (MI4MH) was a public, active display of support for people affected by mental health conditions. It was a visible way to show our community how NAMI Geauga is changing how Americans view people with a mental illness. The event brought together families, individuals, coworkers, and businesses to help raise funds, combat stigma, and promote awareness. As with support groups and other programs, our “walk” in 2020 is now a virtual event. We look forward to the day when we can again meet together in person! Even though our event this year is virtual, we need your help more than ever! Please join with our sponsors, friends, peers, families, and teams to aid in our ongoing mission to offer mutual support and empowerment to persons and their families affected by mental illness through education, advocacy, and emotional support.
